Cardiff, Coins and Castle
Life in south Wales can be truly defined by this amazing tour, where there’s a mix of the very old and the very new. Cardiff, the capital of Wales is home to many highlights and during this tour visits to the Royal Mint Experience, as well as a visit to St Fagans National History Museum, and a visit to Caerphilly Castle will give you fantastic insight into Welsh heritage and the fascinating history of Cymru.
There are some really great places for tourists to visit, both near the city centre and in Cardiff Bay, one of Europe’s biggest waterfront developments. If you like to get outdoors then take a stroll over the beautiful Cardiff Bay Barrage, or why not book a boat trip out to Flat Holm Island.
Also visit St Fagans National History Museum, Wales’ most popular heritage attraction. This open-air museum chronicles the historical lifestyle, culture, and architecture of the Welsh people. More than 40 original buildings from different historical periods have been re-erected in the 100-acre parkland. The museum stands in the grounds of the magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th-century manor house donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth. During the last fifty years, over fifty original buildings from different locations in Wales and from different historical periods have been re-built in the 100-acre parkland. Each building is frozen in time and opens a door into Welsh history offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.
Second only to Windsor in the whole of Britain, Caerphilly Castle is the biggest in Wales. Three times the size of Wales’s modern-day stronghold, the Principality Stadium, home the Welsh National Rugby team, Caerphilly Castle is truly one of the grandest Medieval buildings in Western Europe.
