Day 1
Arrival
Fly from the UK to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 2
Kuala Lumpur
Heritage plays a big part in shaping today’s bustling Kuala Lumpur city. Go on a heritage walking tour and gain some insight into some centuries-old colonial buildings and be inspired by architectural designs. Enjoy a walking tour and visit Jamek Mosque, the Colonial Core, Central Market, Sin Sze Si Ya Temple, Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Little India as well as Chinatown. In the afternoon you will transfer to Batu Caves. The caves are a Hindu Temple and over 400 million years old. The main attraction of the caves is the huge statue of an Hindu God at the entrance.
Day 3
Kuala Lumpur
Today is at leisure. Take another walk through the city centre and explore some of the city’s hidden gems or visit the observation deck on the 86th level of the Petronas Twin Towers. From there you will have an amazing view over the city below.
Day 4
Transfer to Langkawi
Transfer to Kuala Lumpur Airport and fly to Langkawi. Langkawi is an archipelago made up of 99 islands on Malaysia’s west coast, surrounded by turquoise sea. The interior of the island is a mixture of picturesque paddy fields and jungle-clad hills. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 5
Langkawi Island Tour
Today you will go on a tour around the island and visit the most famous sights including the Cable Car and the Sky Bridge. Langkawi Cable Car takes visitors on a vertiginous 15-minute ride to the top of Mount Mat Cincang, offering breath-taking views of Langkawi’s rainforests, islets, and waterfalls. The journey starts out at the Oriental Village and ends on a 708 metre-tall peak, where visitors can take photos from the observatory deck. At the end of the Cable Car ride, you have access to the Sky Bridge, a 410ft-long curved pedestrian bridge above Mount Mat Cinchang. Located 2,300ft above sea level, the views are spectacular!
Day 6
Langkawi Island Hopping
Today you will go on a boat ride and visit some of the many islands surrounding Langkawi. There will be time to try out snorkelling and to take a swim in the beautiful turquoise water.
Day 7 - 9
Langkawi
The next three days are at leisure on Langkawi. Relax at the beach, go for another snorkelling tour or visit some of the other highlights Langkawi has to over.
One of Langkawi’s best known manmade attractions is Dataran Lang, also known as Eagle Square. It features a large sculpture of an eagle poised to take flight. The 12 metre-tall statue is one of the island’s most instantly recognisable monuments which greets the visitors arriving via ferry.
Make sure you will visit the Langkawi Underwater World, Malaysia’s largest aquarium. It features more than 200 different species of marine and freshwater fish.
Another attraction is the Gunung Raya, which according to local beliefs, is a mountain cursed form of a giant called Mat Raya, who had once lived on the island. The dense rainforest is home to numerous wildlife, including leaf monkeys, flying foxes, macaque monkeys, squirrels, mountain hawk eagles, white bellied sea eagles, and great hornbills.
Great for families and animal lovers, the Langkawi Wildlife Park & Bird Paradise houses over 2,500 exotic birds from 150 species such as canaries, ducks, parakeets, owls, eagles, toucans, hornbills and flamingos. The park is fitted with a walk-in aviary and a 15 metre-tall manmade waterfall, where some of the birds are free to roam about and interact with visitors.
Just 30km south of Langkawi Island is Pulau Payar Marine Park, a prominent spot for snorkelling and diving. One of Pulau Payar Marine Park’s best features is its Coral Garden, a secluded section filled with colourful corals.
Day 10
Departure
Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
The wet season on the west of the peninsula (Apr-Oct) brings thunderstorms in the afternoons, but these are usually brief, and the odd downpour is a welcome way to reduce the humidity. The east coast however tends to have a heavier wet season and is best avoided during the rainy period (Nov-Feb).
Visa Requirements
British Nationals do not need a visa to enter Malaysia for up to 3 months. If you wish to stay longer than 3 months then visas can be obtained from your nearest Malaysian diplomatic mission.
