A day in Emmerdale!
Sarah and Charlotte from the UK department had an early start last Sunday getting to Yorkshire for 9.45am for a day learning all the secrets and filming tricks of Emmerdale.
Our day started at Weetwood Hall Hotel where we met the coach which would take us into one of TV’s most famous villages. We met our tour guide who took us on a tour through the village itself which is still currently used for filming during the week and open to tours at weekends. There were lots of photo opportunities during the tour including outside the infamous Woolpack pub, Bob & Brenda’s Café and the houses of the residents. We even got to go inside the church! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and told us lots about the filming of the show from its humble beginnings to the present day.
This afternoon, we headed across Leeds for a guided tour of the studio which housed some of the inside sets such as Bernice’s beauty salon, the Dingle’s house and, of course, a photo opportunity behind the bar of the Woolpack. Our guide gave us some insights into the process from the writers coming up with the storyline ideas, to writing the script to choosing the characters outfits to finally filming and screening the episode. We were even given some behind the scenes footage from the recent helicopter crash during Debbie & Pete’s wedding and how the stunt was created
overall a very enjoyable day and we can highly recommend the tour to any avid Emmerdale fans
