European FAM Trips
Members of the European Operations Department are busy planning our upcoming familiarisation (FAM) trips in order to gain a greater knowledge of our tour destinations and to offer valuable insight for our customers.
Pete and Alexandra are travelling to the Flanders side of the WW1 Battlefields on 13th June for 3 days to visit hotels and attractions. They are planning to visit Essex Farm and the Tyne Cot and Langemarck Cemeteries. Tyne Cot Cemetery features white gravestones where British WW1 soldiers are buried, whilst German soldiers lie under grey and black gravestones at Langemarck Cemetery. Alexandra and Pete are also planning on visiting the ‘In Flanders Fields’ museum in Ypres, which tells the story of WW1, to learn more about the region and its history. 2018 will mark an important anniversary in the region, as it is the centenary of the end of WW1 in November. Therefore, we are expecting that many people will wish to travel to the region to pay their respects and learn about the history. Pete and Alexandra hope to enhance their knowledge of the region to pass on to our customers.
Additionally, Britta and Pete are going to spend a week exploring Austria from the 30th July. They are planning on travelling across the country to find the best attractions and hotels for our customers. Their busy itinerary will include the Salzkammergut, also known as the Austrian Lake District, which features some of the most spectacular lake and mountain scenery in Austria with over 76 lakes scattered throughout its valleys. The area is a popular tourist destination, with many areas designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The region includes the shimmering Ice Caves at Werfen and the city of Salzburg, with its narrow, cobbled streets and musical history. They also hope to visit the picturesque town of St Johann im Pongau, only 50 miles south of Salzburg, which boasts shops, bars and cafes as well as the Tyrol region which is famous for its glorious mountain scenery, lively city of Innsbruck and its warm and friendly hospitality.
The next few months are an exciting time for the European team and we hope to gain great insights and ideas to add to our tours. Keep an eye on the website over the coming months to follow our adventures!
