The biggest, and perhaps most beautiful, of Warsaw’s parks is the Royal Łazienki park and palace complex. Under a leafy canopy, pathways wind between different gardens, past sculptures to pavilions. During the summer months, free Chopin concerts are hosted beside his monument in these beautiful surroundings. Additionally, Wilanów Palace, known as the Versailles of Poland. As well as offering spectacular Baroque and neoclassical creations splendid gardens. Also, there’s a bi-level Baroque Italian garden as well as a enchanting English-Chinese park. Perhaps survey the grounds from the pond with a cruise aboard a gondola.
Furthermore, Warsaw has a number of roof gardens. Affording spectacular views. The climatic conditions of the Copernicus Science Centre’s roof garden are not conducive to growing typical riverside plants, despite its riverside location. This artificially created habitat experiences intense sunlight and there is no windshield. Many of the plants growing here are xeromorphic species, genetically adapted to life in adverse conditions. Also, find the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw, which, when in bloom, is a riot of colour!
Historical & Horticultural Warsaw
The city was rebuilt after its destruction in WW2 in the original style. Glimpses of the original buildings remain amongst the renovations. Thus, giving Warsaw an aura like no other city. Warsaw is bursting with history, from the beautiful centre to the tragic story of the Jewish Ghetto. An abundance of museums offer insight into the many facets of the past, including WW2 and classical music.
