Chester Christmas Market, Chester, Cheshire
Wrap up warm and spend the weekend exploring the historic city of Chester. Our tour includes a look around the compact Christmas markets, located outside the city’s beautiful Town Hall Square opposite Chester Cathedral. There is also time to explore the centre on foot including the Grosvenor shopping centre. In the afternoon we board the Chester Boat and take a two hour cruise down the River Dee. We will be served a cream tea and hot drink as the scenic countryside passes us by. The boat is covered and heated making it a cosy trip and nice way to relax after a busy morning shopping. Our hotel for this trip is Mercure Abbotts Well, a 4 star hotel set in 2 acres of landscaped gardens with leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and spa – perfect for relaxing in after a wintry excursion.

Day 1
Travel to your hotel
On the way to your hotel you may choose to visit the popular (and normally quite busy) McArthurGlen Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet village. Arrive at your hotel with time to relax and use the hotels leisure facilities before dinner.
Day 2
Chester Christmas Markets and Chester Boat Cruise with Cream Tea
This morning we explore the small but perfectly formed Chester Christmas Markets**. A historical and magical experience awaits you with over 70 traditional wooden chalets surrounding the iconic sparkling tree in the heart of the city centre. Discover unique, locally made produce and handmade crafts, jewellery, accessories and stocking fillers. You can also peruse the shops in the covered and beautifully decorated Grosvenor Shopping Centre.
Next we take a relaxing river cruise with commentary along the River Dee. Get comfortable as we glide through the countryside on our decorated, covered and heated boat and enjoy homemade, freshly baked fruit scones with jam and cream and a warm drink. Return to your hotel for a relaxing dinner.

Return home
After a full English breakfast you may choose to visit Liverpool’s Albert Dock or the Ness Botanic Gardens (supplement on request) on your way home.

Nestled amidst two acres of landscaped gardens, this 4-star hotel is situated just two miles from the city centre and Cheshire Oaks. There is a spacious and cosy restaurant and lounge area. Leisure facilities include an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and spa. All 126 bedrooms are furnished with en-suite bathrooms, TV, hairdryer and hospitality tray. Most rooms offer views of the hotel courtyard. There is no lift but plenty of ground floor rooms. There is on-site coach parking available.
