Enjoy a Turkey and Tinsel break at the cosy Cumbria Grand hotel and enjoy this magical time of year. Day 1
Travel to your hotel
For something different, stop off at Carnforth Station, the setting for the classic 1945 film ‘Brief Encounter’.
Arrive at the Cumbria Grand Hotel. Later head down for a glass of pre-dinner bubbly or sherry. Then it’s into the restaurant for a tasty carvery dinner before sitting back and enjoy your first evening’s entertainment.
Day 2
Christmas Eve & Lake Windemere
Enjoy a full English breakfast then collect your jumbo quiz forms.
You could spend time at the hotel or if you feeling more adventurous you could travel to Lake Windemere and take the scenic cruise from Glenridding or Pooley Bridge.
After a delicious Christmas Eve’ Dinner there will be another evening of live entertainment to look forward to.
Day 3
Christmas Day and Kendal
A tasty full English breakfast will be served.
After breakfast why not travel to Kendal, the historic market town famous for its narrow lanes and Kendal Mint Cake. Alternatively relax in the hotel or explore the nearby village Grange-over-Sands.
In the evening enjoy a traditional ‘Christmas’ Dinner with all the trimmings followed by hot mince pies and coffee to accompany tonight’s entertainment.
Day 4
New Year’s Eve and Scenic Drive
After a full English breakfast remember to hand in your quiz forms at reception.
You may choose to take a scenic drive to the picturesque Ambleside and Bowness-on-Windemere. For those looking to travel further for a little warming up The Lakes Distillery near Bassenthwaite Lake offers year round tours and tastings.
A 3-course carvery dinner will be followed by the bringing in of the ‘New Year’ with great entertainment
Day 5
Return home
After a full English breakfast we return home. Depending on your route home Greatdays can suggest attractions to visit on the way.

Cumbria Grand Hotel ***
The Cumbria Grand is set in 25 acres of gardens and woodlands, and is only a 15-minute drive from Lake Windermere. There are 124 bedrooms which are equipped with en-suite bathroom, TV and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel has a large and comfortable lounge and welcoming restaurant. Entertainment is on some nights. The hotel benefits from a putting green and tennis courts. Coach parking is complimentary and there is a lift to all floors.
