Cheese and Windmills Mini-Cruise
The perfect short-break getaway to Holland with departures from Hull to Rotterdam, Newcastle to Amsterdam and Harwich to the Hook of Holland – the choice is yours. Enjoy many of the on-board facilities that the cruise ships have to offer, including en-suite cabin accommodation, eateries, cafes, restaurants, bars and some even have entertainment. These tours include a full day ashore for sightseeing. The cruise ferries are operated by P&O Ferries, DFDS Seaways and Stena Line. Meals on board (breakfast and dinner packages) can be arranged in advance for groups.
Think of Holland and you automatically think of cheese, windmills, clogs and tulips. This ‘Holland in a Nutshell’ day trip will highlight the beautiful medieval city of Gouda. With its beautiful façades, canals, courtyards and one of the most iconic cheese markets in the world, Gouda is truly a charming and authentically Dutch city. From local beers and ceramics to stroopwafels and, of course, the world-famous Gouda Cheese: you can see and learn all about these fantastic products in Gouda.
Kinderdijk is a village known for its iconic 18th century windmills featuring 19 mills and three pumping stations, plus dikes and reservoirs that control flooding. There is a visitors centre and museums located in preserved working windmills.

Day 1
Cruise from UK to Holland
Arrive at your chosen port of departure, check-in and embark on your relaxing cruise ferry for the overnight sailing to Holland. Enjoy many of the facilities on board before retiring to your cabin.
Routes available:
Hull – Rotterdam; Newcastle – Amsterdam; Harwich – Hook of Holland.
Day 2
Full Day Gouda and Kinderdijk
Prepare for disembarkation early morning and take a leisurely drive to Gouda, famous for its cheese. Meet up with a local guide for a walking tour along the pretty cobbled streets and canals and admire the golden-stained glass windows of the grand church – Sint Janskerk. Make sure not to miss the city hall in the middle of the Markt square. It’s the oldest Gothic city hall in the Netherlands and looks like something straight out of a fairytale. For lunch why not try a traditional Gouda Cheese sandwich with fries followed by a stroopwafel, and maybe a Dutch beer!
From here travel to Kinderdijk, a village known for its iconic 18th century windmills. This UNESCO site features 19 mills and 3 pumping stations, plus dikes and reservoirs that control flooding. There is a visitors centre and museums located in some of the preserved working windmills. Your entrance ticket also includes a cruise on one of the many tour boats that operate all day subject to weather conditions. (Pre-booking not possible so places cannot be guaranteed). However, it is easy enough to get around on foot. Optional guided tours available on request.
Head back to your chosen port of departure and embark on the cruise ferry for the overnight sailing to the UK, once again enjoying many of the on board facilities.
Day 3
Arrive UK
Disembark early morning and continue your journey home.
