Day 2
Wensleydale Railway and World of James Herriot
This morning, we travel south to Leeming Bar for a relaxing ride on the Wensleydale Railway through the rolling countryside to Leyburn. This afternoon, we visit the World of James Herriot, the original home of All Creatures Great and Small.
Day 3
Beamish
Today we visit Beamish, The Living Museum of the North, a living, working museum, set in 300 acres of beautiful Durham countryside. Trams rattle along the cobbled streets and costumed folk bring to life how things were in north east England in the 1820s,1910s and 1940s. But what makes Beamish rather special are the buildings. They’re not replicas, but have been brought, brick by brick, from around the region and rebuilt to give visitors a real sense of history.
Day 4
Durham and Locomotion
This morning there’s free time in Durham, a captivating city with winding cobbled streets and a prominent peninsula crowned with the dramatic Durham Cathedral and Castle UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon we visit Locomotion, part of the National Railway Museum with more than 70 locomotives and other railway heritage vehicles on display.
Day 5

If you’re travelling south, why not visit historic York.
