Explore the medieval town of Dinan one of the most attractive and best preserved small towns in Brittany. With its 1.8 mile (3km)-long ramparts, half-timbered houses, attractive port and cobbled streets filled with art galleries and craft shops, it’s worth a day of anyone’s time. As well as this, see the charming seaside St Malo. This city has a long historical connection to explorers, traders and pirates and was the home of the navigator Jacques Cartier, who discovered Canada. Visit one of the town’s museums dedicated to its seafaring history and take a walk round the city’s walled ramparts before delving into the exquisite Breton cuisine. St Malo is known for its regional specialities crepes au blé noir (crepes made with black flour) and kir Breton (creme de cassis with cider), so why not enjoy these delicacies while walking the streets of the reconstructed city.

Spend a day exploring the largest of the Channel Islands, Jersey. At just nine miles by five miles, Jersey is an island that’s small on size, but big on personality. Day 1
Travel to France
Sail from Portsmouth on the afternoon sailing to St Malo. Perhaps enjoy dinner onboard before arriving in St Malo in the evening.
Day 2
Dinard and Dinan
Start the day be heading to Dinard, a genteel resort famous for its many Belle Époque villas. After some exploration, continue to Dinan, a beautiful medieval old town with a delightful port. Linking the two is the steep, cobbled Rue de Petit Fort lined with stone and half-timbered buildings dating from the 14th to 16th centuries. There’s a road train to take you back to the top!
Day 3
Jersey for the day
Taking the high-speed ferry from St-Malo, today travel to Jersey. Perhaps get to know the island and take in its sights with a guided coach tour. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy free time to explore St. Helier, the island’s capital. Indulge in a little shopping, or perhaps relax on the famous beaches of St. Aubin’s or St. Brelade’s. After a wonderful day on this beautiful island, return to St-Malo in the late evening.
Day 4
Mont Saint-Michel
This morning, cross into Normandy to visit the world-famous Mont Saint-Michel. Climb the shop-lined cobbled street to the iconic Benedictine monastery. Its sturdy ramparts and spires sit atop rocky slopes which rise imposingly from the sea. The tides sweep dramatically over the sands at astonishing speeds.
Day 5
Return to the UK
Take the daytime sailing from St Malo back to Portsmouth. From there, continue your journey to your local area.
