Trefoil Guild – Portmeirion and Caernarfon Excursion
On Sunday 26th June 2022, Claire from the Sales team joined members of the Trefoil Guild on our Portmeirion and Caernarfon daytrip, this was an opportunity she couldn’t miss as she had never visited either places.
The journey from Llandudno through villages, with slate mines, former Monks Abbey’s and glimpses of Zip wires took just over an hour and half, arriving in to the unique and altogether magnificent Italianate village of Portmeirion, even in the rain it looked beautiful. Too young to remember the 60’s TV series The Prisoner, she wondered round the village taken in the stunning views and looking out for the various plaques in honour of the TV show.
The Voel coach continued the journey to the Royal town of Caernarfon and its impressive castle, used for the investiture of the Prince of Wales, in 1969. Passing through Porthmadog with the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway and the sun starting to appear the guide singing a Welsh song along the way the 40 minute drive passed by.
With free time to grab some Welsh Cakes and meander around the town, the Menai Strait and Marina dazzling with the brief burst of sunshine, and her new friends the seagulls she had a lovely Sunday afternoon.
Returning along the coastal road, with castles and hills to look out on, the day had been very interesting and she will be back to visit again.
