London product update with Mark & Amanda
Amanda and Mark from the London Operations team, made a short visit to London to update their product knowledge a week or so back.
The first stop was at the Thistle Euston – A Greatdays favourite for many years, and a great location next to Euston Station, ideal for any clients arriving in London by train from the North West. The hotel was fully refurbished a couple of years ago, and still looks good today. It has a really nice bar and restaurant, and the rooms are a good size – even the singles, which all have double beds in them.
It was then off to the Holiday Inn Kings Cross, which is currently going through a massive refurbishment to change to a Crowne Plaza. When completed later this year, this is going to be a great new addition to our preferred hotels. It has large bedrooms, many with two double beds, so great for families, and an indoor swimming pool and health club.
The afternoon was spend in the Docklands region, which has gone through so many changes over the years, and is now a great place to stay, if you want to escape the Centre of London. The area now has a really good infrastructure with bars, restaurants and shops, and is no longer isolated from the rest of London – well worth considering as rates here are very competitive especially at weekends – do call us for our recommended hotels.
The evening was spent as guests of City Cruises on the Showboat River cruise, and is thoroughly recommended for an evening excursion. You get a 3 hour Thames cruise with food drink and entertainment, and spectacular views of London and Canary Wharf. We offer our own exclusive Showboat charters in December – see our website for details.

The next morning, was spent with Grange Hotels at two of their flagship properties in the City of London – the Grange Tower Bridge and the Grange City Hotel – both rated as 5 star and with high standards, these hotels both have wonderful leisure facilities and spas, good size and very well equipped bedrooms and offer great rates for weekend stays – ideal for the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, and both only a short walk from the Tower Coach park.
It was the off to the Melia White House Hotel – close to Warren Street and Mornington Crescent , Greatdays are offering a Sunday special Cocktail making offer here. This includes a Master class from the hotel and the chance to sample one of their signature Cocktails. The hotel is an art deco style building, and has a really nice buffet style restaurant, offering a variety of different food to choose from, including several Spanish style dishes. The bedrooms though not that big are very well equipped, and ideal for a weekend stay.
