A Trip down Penny Lane
Last week Jenny and Louise from the Day Trips department visited some of the most famous Liverpool sights. This jewel of the North West has so much to offer, from the fabulous architecture to the fab four. Our knowledgeable tour guide Jonathan guided us round the local Beatles hot spots; including the original Strawberry Fields and the Penny Lane development centre. Time for a photo opportunity, before throwing in a couple of former Beatles family homes along the way!
Liverpool, City of Culture
Once our thirst for all things Beatles was quenched, we went on to admire the magnificent architecture of St Georges Hall and the city library that grace the skyline of the former European City of Culture. We indulged our senses in the beautiful Palm House in Sefton Park before admiring the master art works on display at the little known Sudley House nearby.
Finally, we took in the bustling Albert Dock with its fascinating museums and shopping colonnades, built upon centuries of history. Lunch was taken in a room with a view, the Mersey Maritime Dining Room on the top floor of the museum in the heart of Albert Dock. Fantastic local food with a view across the quayside towards the river. A must for all visitors to the city. To do this as a day trip with a group, visit Liverpool Undiscovered
