Visit Belgium
Brussels, its capital city, is a stunning city with the 17th century architecture of the Grand Place at its heart. Fashionable Antwerp is home to its famous diamonds and where the artist Ruben’s had his home. Gent has regularly been high in the best towns to visit polls in recent years, and why not, with its stunning architecture, famous Graslei area surrounding the famous canals and Gravensteen Castle. The Belgian Coast is home to many fantastic resorts including Ostend and Blankenberge. Mile after mile of sandy beaches welcome you with many attractions waiting to be explored.
Away from its cities, Belgium has world famous WW1 Battlefield sites, with Ypres its main base. Home to In Flanders Fields Museum and Menin Gate, Ypres is a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding battlefields including Essex Farm, Tyne Cot Cemetery, Hill 62 and Sanctuary Wood, Langemarck Cemetery and Passchendaele amongst others. The Belgian Ardennes is home to some fantastic scenery and houses some of the best castles and gardens in Europe such as Jardin d’Annevoie, Freyr Castle and Gardens and the beautiful town of Durbuy and its brilliant Topiary Gardens. Small towns of Dinant and Namur in these regions are great to visit including their famous citadels.
Belgium is a food lovers paradise, famous for its food and drink. From moules frites to Flemish stew to its world famous chocolates there is something for everyone to enjoy. Outsnading restaurants from budget to high end Michelin star restaurants are available and why not wash it down with a Belgian Beer.
With it being so close to the UK, Belgium is easily accessible by coach through Dover and Folkestone or via Hull into Zeebrugge. There are regular flights to Brussels and Charleroi or why not sit back and relax on the Eurostar from London and be in Brussels in just over 2 hours.
Visit Luxembourg
Luxembourg, although one of the smallest countries in Europe, packs a punch with the excursions and attractions it offers. Luxembourg city is an attraction in itself with its stunning gorge and fantastic attractions. Stroll through the Petrusse Gorge or the old town and see the remains of one of the most imposing fortresses in Europe.
Visit the Casemates underground tunnels cut deep into the rocks. See the Ducal Palace or wander the cobbled streets with their shops, bars and restaurants. One of the main assets to this country is our main hotel, the Grand Hotel in Vianden. Bart and his family welcome you with open arms and their hospitality is second to none. Combined with their regular entertainment program in the hotel it makes for a fantastic short break.
From your base in Luxembourg, some great excursions can be done including the famous Bernard-Massard wine cellars in Grevenmacher with some tastings at the end of your group tour. Cross the border to the Roman city of Trier in Germany, drive along the Mullerthal valley, located in the east of the Grand Duchy. This is a charming little region which fully deserves its nickname of ‘Little Switzerland’. A stop is recommended in Echternach to see one of the largest Roman Villas in North-East Gaul. Church enthusiasts can feast their eyes on the Benedictine Abbey.
