Barcelona remains the most requested destination in Spain – and it’s clear to see why! With a lively atmosphere, Gaudí’s iconic buildings such as the Sagrada Familia, modern waterfront and captivating history, it is great for a city break or as part of a longer tour to Spain. Madrid, though Spanish capital with its royal palace and cathedral, fine architecture, parks and designer shops still retains an air of a traditional Spanish village.

Andalucia is a fabulous region to discover, with captivating cities such as Sevilla, Granada and Cordoba, blending the area’s Moorish history with modern Spain.

The North

The north is just as interesting, and less well trodden! Cities such as San Sebastián, Bilbao and Santander offer historic old quarters with winding streets, fabulous cuisine with more Michelin starred restaurants per capita than anywhere else in Europe, fierce seas and steep mountain backdrops. And why not indulge in the historic tradition and join many pilgrims walking some of the Camino to Santiago de Compostella? Nearby you’ll also find the Rioja, with as much culture as there is wine!

What’s more, Spain isn’t limited just to the Iberian Peninsula – in the heart of the Mediterranean lie the charming Balearic Islands, whilst in the Atlantic, the Canaries offer much more than a traditional package holiday.

The imperial might of Portugal is evident in Lisbon, with monuments to the countries great explorers, including Vasco de Gama. Discover palaces, gardens, quaint neighbourhoods and travel round on the iconic cable cars. Travel north to Sinta and visit its beautiful palace, or head to Fatima, home to many pilgrimages.

Cruise down the stunning Douro River Valley and sample some of the infamous local tipple – Port. The city of Porto, home to many famous Port houses, is well worth a few days to discover in its own right. Portugal also boasts a number of islands in the Atlantic, Madeira known as the jewel of the Atlantic has stunning gardens and the exotic Azores are a delight for lovers of flora and fauna.

Andorra, found in the high peaks of the Pyrenees between France and Spain, is easily incorporated into many trips to Spain and offers beautiful mountain scenery and quaint villages.
