Ireland’s rugged northern coastline is the stuff of myths, legends and of course…giants. Make the most of your visit on this new tour which includes visits to the Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills Distillery, the historic city of Derry Londonderry, and bordering coastal County Donegal.

Suggested itinerary by coach

Day 1

Travel to Northern Ireland

Arrive in Northern Ireland and travel to our hotel for dinner. If travelling from Cairnryan then you have the option to have dinner on the ferry. If overnights are required for your journey Greatdays are happy to advise and arrange subject to your location – additional supplements will apply.

Day 2

The Causeway Coast, Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills Distillery

Travel along the scenic Causeway Coast via Portrush. At the UNESCO World Heritage Site Giant’s Causeway visit the award-winning visitor centre. Next you can walk or take a bus down to the coastal path and the 40,000 interlocking hexagonal columns, some up to 12m high. From there head inland to the village of Bushmills, home to the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery.

Day 3

Donegal and the Wild Atlantic Way

After breakfast head to Magilligan Point and take the scenic Lough Foyle Ferry* across to Greencastle in Inishowen County Donegal, a busy fishing port with many fine tourist attractions located near the start of the Wild Atlantic Way. Here we visit the Inishowen Maritime Museum & Planetarium. Enjoy free time to explore the harbour before retuning by ferry to County Londonderry.

Day 4

Derry Londonderry

This morning there is the option to take the public train journey from Coleraine to Derry Londonderry, described by Michael Palin as “one of the most beautiful rail journeys in the world” (tickets not included, to be purchased at station). On arrival in Derry Londonderry we embark upon a guided walking tour around the 17th century city walls, St Columbs Cathedral and historic Guildhall with a commentary covering the city’s origins, the Troubles and more recently TV fame with the Derry Girls. Afternoon to relax.

Day 5

Return home

After breakfast travel to the port to take the ferry home. If overnights are required for your journey Greatdays are happy to advise and arrange subject to your location – additional supplements will apply.

This comfortable, friendly hotel provides a wonderful warm welcome to groups. It is ideally located in the town of Coleraine, 55 miles northwest of Belfast and 30 miles east of Derry. There are 56 bedrooms, 40 of which are located in an annex attached to the hotel by an indoor covered walkway. The annex has its own lift. There are 2 accessible rooms and some rooms feature walk-in showers. Large free car park & coach bay for group drop off. We highly recommend this hotel.
