Day 2
Chester and guided tour
Today we visit Chester where a guided walking tour of the city’s main attractions will include the ‘The Rows’, the 700-year-old, two-tiered shopping galleries with an array of independent and high street names, and Chester Cathedral. There’s free time to explore the city at your leisure. Walk along the most complete city walls in Britain or take a short boat cruise on the River Dee.
Day 3
Llangollen, a steam train and the ‘Canal in the Sky’
This morning we head to Llangollen via the the spectacular Horseshoe Pass for a ride on the steam-hauled Llangollen Railway to Carrog, 10 miles of glorious Welsh scenery along the banks of the River Dee. In the afternoon, we take a boat trip across the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
Day 4
Conwy, Llandudno and Bodnant Welsh Food
We travel along the North Wales coast to visit Conwy, with its magnificent 13th century castle and quaint streets. In the heart of the town is Plas Mawr, an Elizabethan town house. On the quay nearby is the ‘Smallest House in Britain’. See if you can find it! We then travel to Llandudno, a seaside resort that retains much of its Victorian charm. For our last stop we call in at Bodnant Welsh Food, a paradise for foodies, offering fresh, seasonal, food and drink from in-house specialists and local artisan producers.
