Snowdrops at Dunham Massey
Discover the Beautiful Cheshire Snowdrops
Discover the delights of Britain’s largest winter garden at Dunham Massey, where the white carpet will be rolled out for visitors during snowdrop season. The garden contains almost 700 different plant species and a further 1,600 shrubs specifically bred for the seven-acre wonder. It’s definitely the most wonderful time of the year when the after-dark, illuminated trail winds magically through the formal gardens and deer park of Dunham Massey.
Stroll beside colour-changing lakeside reflections and under trees dripping with silvery shards of light, baubles and stars. Huge snowflakes create an aerial kaleidoscope over the Gardens and the tunnel of light returns with twinkling splendour.

If Christmas isn’t your thing, why see the beautiful country house & ancient parklands any time of the year. As the season changes, the vista on offer produces a new sumptuous array of colours and flora. Located in the leafy suburbs of Cheshire, on the outskirts of Altrincham, Bowdon and Hale, this large country house and estate really is a National Trust gem. With its sweeping lawns, sumptuous borders and majestic trees, this is one of the north west’s great plantsman’s gardens. The Gardens at Dunham Massey are home to historic features such as an Orangery, Pump House, Victorian Bark House and the remains of an Elizabethan Mount. Snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells provide an ever changing landscape of colours and scents.
In summer, see the celebrated rose garden take centre stage. The deer park is home to a herd of fallow deer as well as a fully restored 400 year old working sawmill powered by a water wheel. Dunham Massey also has a café and a restaurant on-site, with plenty of options to enjoy. The Stables Restaurant has a wide range of dishes to suit every taste, from hot meals (served 12pm – 2.30pm), soup, sandwiches and salads, to cakes, sweet treats and cream tea. The café in the Visitor Centre is open daily serving a range of sandwiches, paninis, snacks, cakes and sweet treats.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas and complete your walk under the stars with mulled wine or hot chocolate.
