Discovering Lake Geneva – Montreux and the Golden Express Train – NEW AND IMPROVED ITINERARY
Lake Geneva is Western Europe’s largest lake. The Southern shores are in France, but the palm tree studded shores of the Swiss Riviera stretch along the north shore and home to the cities of Geneva, Montreux, Lausanne and Vevey. Snowy mountains, vineyards clinging to the hillside, ancient castles and cathedrals, and the sound of cowbells tingling in the meadows, all combine to make this a very special place.
On this tour we will explore Lausanne and it’s ties to the Olympic movement, a cruise on Lake Geneva (Lac Leman), visit a medieval castle, stroll around city of Montreux, home to the famous Jazz Festival and links with Freddie Mercury and the pop group Queen and learn about the legendary comic genius that is Charlie Chaplin who lived in Vevey for most of his life. Enjoy the culinary delights of Swiss chocolate and cheese and experience a ride on one of Switzerland’s most scenic routes on the Golden Pass Express Train from Montreux culminating with a wine tasting at the UNESCO listed vineyards of the Lavaux region that overlooks Lake Geneva.
A true Swiss Experience!
