5 day tour
From £??? per person - minimum 25 passengers

Join us on this tour which includes some of the ‘traditional and iconic’ elements that automatically comes to mind when thinking of Holland such as cheese making and tasting in Gouda, the windmills at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kinderdijk, watching the craftsmen and women at work in the Royal Porcelain factory in Delft, taking a ‘Royal’ walking tour around The Hague,  seeing the wonderful gardens at Het Loo Palace in Apeldoorn and the medieval city of Amersfoort.

Our tour is based in the picturesque city of ’s Hertogenbosch (also known as Den Bosch) which has a rich history exemplified by its extraordinary museums and the authentic shops, bars and restaurants. The Market square, on which our hotel in city centre of Den Bosch is situated, hosts a bustling market three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.  If you get time to explore it is also worth visiting Saint John’s Cathedral.  The city walls and fortifications were built in the 16th and 17th centuries and virtually all of them have remained intact. Two rivers flow through the city: the Dommel and Binnendieze rivers.

Suggested itinerary by coach

Day 1

Depart the UK

Travel to Dover and take the short sea ferry crossing over to Calais.  Continue the journey into Belgium via Ghent and Antwerp before crossing the border into Holland and on to Den Bosch for the next 4 nights.  After check-in the rest of the evening is at leisure.

Day 2

Royal Delft and Royal Hague

Depart after breakfast for a visit to the museum of Royal Delft Blue pottery located in the original 400 year old factory and see pottery in production.  Admire the craftsmanship and watch the hand painting techniques as artists paint the high quality Delft pottery. There will be time to browse the on-site shop before departing to the Hague.

Here, meet up with a local guide for a ‘Royal’ walking tour to view the Royal Palace of Noordeinde, walk in the Palace gardens and get a glimpse of the Royal stables  behind the gardens, which house the famous royal Golden Coach.

Enjoy some free time in The Hague for lunch and shopping before returning to the hotel.   The evening and dinner is at leisure tonight.

Day 3

Gouda and Kinderdijk Windmills

Travel to Gouda and meet up with a local guide for a walking tour of this picturesque city famous for its cheese.  Wander along the pretty cobbled streets and canals and admire the golden stained-glass windows of the grand church.  With its beautiful façades,  courtyards and one of the most iconic cheese markets in the world, Gouda is truly a charming and authentically Dutch city. From local beers and ceramics to stroopwafels and, of course, the world-famous Gouda Cheese: you can see and learn all about these fantastic products in Gouda.

In the afternoon continue to visit the dikes and windmills of Kinderdijk, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  You will get the opportunity to visit museums inside working windmills where millers tell their stories, take a boat trip or an optional guided tour. All the mills, pumps, dikes, and storage basins work together to literally keep their heads above water. That is how this characteristic and deeply Dutch landscape came about. (Optional guided tours and boat trips are available)

Return to the hotel for an evening and dinner at leisure.

Day 4

Het Loo Palace and Amersfoort

We will depart after breakfast for Apeldoorn where we will have a guided tour and visit of Het Loo Palace and Gardens.  The main building was a Royal Palace for over three centuries and the gardens, often described as being the ‘Versailles of Holland’ are absolutely stunning.  After our visit we will continue to nearby Amersfoort to explore this well-preserved medieval city, renowned for its historic walls, churches, city gates and beautiful canals.  There will be plenty of time to get some lunch and explore the city at your own pace.

Return to the hotel for our final evening at leisure.

We will leave Holland and retrace our steps through Belgium and onto Calais and take the short sea ferry crossing back to Dover, an home.
