Day 1/2
Welcome to Catalonia!
Depart from the UK, heading to Dover for your ferry crossing to Calais. Head south, through France, stopping for an overnight in the Orléans area. The following day, continue through France into Spain and travel to your hotel in the beautiful resort of Roses on the Costa Brava. Check in in time for dinner.
Day 3
Wine and Oil
Today, enjoy a guided visit of a typical local winery, and learn about their wine-making process. You can even stomp the grapes yourself! Sample the wine with a tasting and then enjoy a picnic of typical Catalan specialities in the vineyard. Afterwards, visit a local olive oil producer to learn their oil-making procedures and have an oil tasting. Return to the hotel in time for dinner.
Day 4
Sheep Cheese
Visit an ecological farm specialised in sheep dairy products. There, you will get the opportunity to learn how an ecological farm works and how they make their dairy products. Then, it will be your turn: you will make your own Catalan sheep cheese! Afterwards, head to a typical Catalan restaurant for lunch and choose from different Catalan specialties. Spend your afternoon at leisure, perhaps enjoying the Spanish sunshine.
Day 5
Relax and Unwind
Spend today at leisure. Take some time to relax on the beach or potter through the town of Roses. Alternatively, stay in resort and make the most of your hotel’s facilities.
Day 6
Cap de Creus
This morning, venture into the breathtaking Cap de Creus Nature Reserve. In its heart is the Sant Pere de Rodes monastery, where you will have a guided tour. This Benedictine monastery is built into the side of the Verdera Mountain and affords visitors stunning views. After the guided tour, enjoy tapas combined with special wines that will help you understand the monastery’s history and life-style. Afterwards, enjoy some time at leisure by the sea, before returning to your hotel.
Day 7
Barcelona
Start your visit to Barcelona with a guided sightseeing tour to help you get to know this remarkable city. The tour ends at a tapas bar with a tapas and pinchos buffet. Refuelled, explore Barcelona at leisure this afternoon. Admire the remarkable architecture and works of Gaudi, explore the enthralling Gothic Quarter or perhaps visit Camp Nou – home to Barcelona FC.
Day 8/9
Departure
The time has come to leave Catalonia behind and begin your homeward journey. Retrace your steps into France, stopping in the Orléans area overnight. Continue back to Calais for your return ferry crossing to the UK.
