Day 1
Travel to your hotel
Arrive at your hotel and relax before dinner.
Day 2
St. Albans and Hatfield House
After breakfast, a visit to the Roman town of St. Albans with a knowledgeable local guide. Formally known as Verulanium, this was the 3rd largest City in Roman Britain and was built around AD50. You will visit the cathedral, with the longest naive in England, the Roman theatre and museum or wander the charming old streets learning some of the history as you go. There will time for lunch in St Albans. After lunch, a visit to Hatfield House, a fine Jacobean House adjoining the site of the Old Palace of Hatfield. This is where Elizabeth I, spent most of her childhood. The Garden dates from the early 17th century. You will have a guided tour around the house and depending on day of visit and time, there may be chance for a guided garden visit as well.
Day 3
Capel Manor Gardens and Knebworth House
After breakfast visit Capel Manor Gardens, well you will enjoy a guided walk and discover a wonderful scented oasis surrounding a Georgian Manor House. Later you can visit Knebworth House, one of England’s most beloved stately homes, famous worldwide for its rock concerts and as the home of Victorian novelist Edward Bulwer Lytton – author of the words ‘The pen is mightier than the sword’. Your guide will escort you around the House, and we can also arrange a guided tour of the Garden (supplement applies).
Day 4
Return home
After breakfast start your journey home.
