Lincoln Aviation and WWII Heritage
Get ready for ‘take off’ on this tour which celebrates the aviation heritage of Lincoln and its role in WWII. We visit Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, home of the Lancaster Bomber, and We’ll Meet Again – WWII Homefront Museum, where wartime history is brought to life. The next day we spend time at the International Bomber Command Centre, and then have free time to explore the city.

Day 1
Travel to Lincolnshire.
Day 2
Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre and We’ll Meet Again Museum.
In the morning, we travel to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Museum, home to one of only three remaining Avro Lancaster bombers. We then travel onto We’ll Meet Again Museum. There are Homefront exhibits, including a typical ‘shop’ counter of the period. Elsewhere there are Women’s Land Army artefacts, nurse’s uniforms, children’s toys, equipment used in the home at that time from mangles to mincers, 1940’s fashions and items that some visitors will see and say, “I remember those”! There is also an Anderson Shelter and blitz experience.
Day 3
International Bomber Command Centre & Lincoln
This morning, we visit the International Bomber Command Centre, a world-class facility acknowledging the efforts, sacrifices and commitments of the men and women who came together in Bomber Command during WWII. Enjoy a guided tour of the Peace Garden and Memorial Spire and Wall, and then spend time in the Chadwick Centre to learn more through the interactive galleries and exhibitions. We finish our tour with an afternoon in the historic city of Lincoln, where you can admire the beauty of Lincoln Cathedral, a fine example of English Gothic architecture.
