The Exposition Internationale Des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes held in Paris in 1925, played an important role in the birth of Art Moderne. This movement was characterised by sleek forms, luxury materials and stylised decoration which later became known as Art Deco. London offers an array of some of the best examples of Art Deco architecture in Europe.

Day 1
Eltham Palace
Afternoon visit to Eltham Palace, a unique Art Deco mansion in a medieval setting. Transformed by millionaires Stephen and Virginia Courtauld, Eltham Palace fuses 1930s design with original medieval architecture and is set in 19 acres of award-winning gardens.
Day 2
London’s Art Deco Wonders

Enjoy a full day guided tour of the best of London’s Art Deco wonders including the stunning Carreras Tobacco Factory, the sleek lines of the Daimler Garage, imposing Senate House skyline, Odeon on Shaftesbury Avenue, Adelphi Theatre and the chic Savoy Hotel. We stop for a light lunch * and freetime to explore the Freemason’s Hall, a 1933 Art Deco masterpiece built on a site used for Freemason’s meetings since 1775. Optional guide tour of the Grand Temple
After we see the striking Deco landmarks of the Daily Express and Daily Telegraph buildings, the fictional home of Hercules Poirot, the Unilever building, the former London Underground headquarters at 55 Broadway, Victoria Coach Station and the former offices of Imperial Airways now the National Audit office. Admire the curved glass curtain wall of the Peter Jones Building, iconic Michelin House Bibendum, the former Derry and Toms department store , Simpson’s Piccadilly, Palladium House, BBC Broadcasting House. The tour ends with free time at the RIBA Building with its etched glass, superb carvings impressive staircase, gallery and exhibition.

Day 3
The Victoria and Albert Museum & Battersea Power Station
Morning visit to The Victoria and Albert Museum, the world’s largest museum of applied arts, decorative arts and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects. It was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
We visit the Deco brick cathedral of Battersea Power Station. This legendary London Garde II landmark and surrounding area have been recently brought back to life after 40 years of neglect. There is a good choice of food options available for lunch

Bernard’s designs made this one of the most celebrated hotel interiors in London. Beneath today’s contemporary décor you’ll find fascinating stories and some original Art Deco touches. Outside, the Strand remains a buzzing focal point of West End life, just as it was in 1930’s.

Located in the heart of Bloomsbury the Tavistock Hotel overlooks Tavistock Square, just a minute or two from Russell Square.
