Magical Montenegro – A tiny nation of immense natural beauty
Highly Recommended
Montenegro is the perfect place to take a group tour and escape the hectic buzz of the day to day. With a population of just over 600,000 people, the country is a gorgeous hideaway steeped in natural beauty and peaceful spots to relax.
Rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow strip of beaches along its Adriatic coastline, Montenegro has some of Europe’s most spectacular scenery. Tucked between Croatia, Serbia and Albania and around two-thirds of the size of Wales, Montenegro punches above its weight when it comes to natural beauty.
Mountains rise sharply from the crystal-clear waters below, creating a breathtaking setting waiting to be explored. In summer, the whole scene is bathed in the scent of wild herbs, conifers and Mediterranean blossoms.

The breathtaking fjord-like bays encompassing the Bay of Kotor seem a world away from the rest of Europe – hidden peacefully between the folding canyons. Resting gently within the embrace of the sparkling water is the Our Lady of The Rocks monastery. According to the legends, the man-made islet just off the coast of Perast gradually rose from the sea as sailors laid rocks at the site to celebrate their return from sea voyages.
The Dolphin-shaped Lake Skadar, the largest in the Balkans region, is among Montenegro’s most alluring and peaceful attractions. Boats pass out into the vast expanse of the lake, the noise of their engines disappearing into the distance before they leave sight. It is the perfect foil to Dubrovnik further up the coast in Croatia – a bustling medieval city of grand stone fortifications and marbled streets with a distinctly different aura.
