The capital of Greece has shortage of things to see and is often described as an open-air museum with an abundance of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, neo-classical and art deco architecture as well as ancient monuments. stroll along the most beautiful street in Athens: Dionysiou Areopagitou. See neo-classical and art deco architecture on one side of the street, as you tick off ancient monuments like the Theatre of Dionysus (the birthplace of Greek drama) and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (still used as a summer venue) on the other. Beyond the centre, lies the Attica Peninsula, home to some incredible beaches. It is clear to see how such beauty can inspire mythology that has stood the test of time. Along this coast, see such monuments as the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion. Built during 444–440 BC, it is one of the major monuments of the Golden Age of Athens.

The term Legend is often overused however, in this sense, cannot be overstated when describing this region. These are but some of the tales of this region that have stood the test of time. Day 1
Depart the UK
Fly directly from your chosen airport to Athens where you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2
Corinth – Mycenae – Epidaurus – Nafplion – Tolon
Depart Athens and travel to the ancient city of Corinth where Paul the Apostle lived and preached and where he also wrote his first and second letters to the Corinthians. Continue to Mycenae where you will see the remains of the prehistoric citadel fortified with Cyclopean walls, the Lionesses Gate, the Mycenaean Palace and the tomb of King Agamemnon. After lunch, we’ll continue to Epidaurus which is famous for its well-preserved amphitheatre. Afterwards, we will have some free time in Nafplion before we travel to Tolon for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3
Tripolis – Megalopolis – Olympia
We travel through the central Peloponnese to ancient Olympia, which holds the stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 776BC. In the afternoon, we visit the archaeological site and museum. Dinner and overnight stay in Olympia.
Day 4
Patras and Delphi
In the morning, we’ll travel via Patras to Rion where we cross the new bridge to Antirrion and continue through Nafpaktos to Delphi. We’ll enjoy an included traditional lunch before visiting the archaeological museum of the site of Delphi where the priestess Pythia pronounced her famous oracles in the Temple of Apollo. Dinner and overnight in Delphi.
Day 5
Delphi – Athens
After a leisurely morning in Delphi, we will travel to Athens with a stop for lunch en-route. Arrival into the City of Athens. Evening meal and overnight in Athens.
Day 6
Athens and Sounion
In the morning, we’ll enjoy a half day tour of the ancient city of Athens and all its archaeological highlights including Acropolis and Areopagus (Mars Hill). After lunch, we’ll continue Sounion where we will visit the Temple of Poseidon. Later, we will return to Athens where we will enjoy a tradition Greek meal complete with folk singers and dancers.
Day 7
Cruise to the Saronic Islands
Today, we will enjoy a full day cruise to the islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra complete with lunch on board. Our first stop is Aegina, an attractive and tranquil resort. Here we will take an excursion to the Temple of Aphaia; one of the finest and the best preserved Greek Temples. From here we continue our voyage to Poros which offers delightful scenery surrounded by low pine wooded hills. Our last call is Hydra, a fashionable retreat for artists ancient intellectuals as well as a favourite film location. Return to Athens later for dinner and overnight.
Day 8
Departure and inbound flight to the UK
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
