Includes a trip on Rail Mail at the Postal Museum

This group tour to London receives our stamp of approval! The Postal Museum is ‘packed’ with interactive exhibitions and fun-filled collections spanning five centuries of our connected world’s history. One of the museum’s highlights is a 15-minute circular journey on a purpose-built modern train through the original tunnels and station platforms under the Mount Pleasant sorting office.

Located deep beneath the streets of the capital, London’s secret 100-year-old Post Office Railway has kept people across the world connected by transporting billions of letters, parcels and postcards; some say it was the earliest social network.

You will also have chance to visit the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, and a trip on the River Thames between Westminster Pier and Tower Pier, with live commentary.

Day 1

Arrive in London

Arrive during the afternoon and check into your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure, we have lots of suggestions! Maybe an evening at the theatre or a dinner cruise on the Thames, or perhaps a group meal at a local restaurant. Please contact us for suggestions.

Day 2

Rail and Mail

After breakfast in the hotel, make your way to the Postal Museum (near Kings Cross), where one of the highlights of your visit will be a 15-minute circular journey on the purpose built modern train through the original tunnels and station platforms under the Mount Pleasant sorting office.

Free time for lunch, we would suggest the Covent garden area, with plenty of restaurants, bar and cafes to sort all tastes.

In the afternoon, a visit to the London Transport Museum. Based in the heart of Covent Garden, the Museum explores the powerful link between transport and the growth of modern London, its culture and society since 1800. Highlights include the iconic red London bus, the world’s first Underground steam train and the padded cell – a train carriage dating back to the 1890s. Design lovers and transport enthusiasts alike, can enjoy the Design for Travel gallery which showcases pioneering advertising posters and artworks. You’ll see Harry Beck’s original artwork for his groundbreaking London Underground map and the story of the development of the world-famous roundel transport logo.

Return to your hotel with your evening at leisure.
