Gothic masterpiece Gorton Monastery is a former Fransican church and friary. Derelict for many years, it was saved from ruin and on our guided tour we will learn all about the building dramatic history. Our final stop today is Elizabeth Gaskell’s House, former home of the famous author. The house fell into dire straits and was even student accommodation before it was beautifully restored. You will enjoy a guided tour followed by tea and cake.
