Day 2
River Rafting and UNESCO World Heritage Site Ironbridge
Shropshire Raft Tours takes us on a trip down the River Severn, through the world heritage site Ironbridge. There are no whitewater rapids meaning visitors of any age can enjoy floating down the river on the 16 seater rafts. The tours are guided and focus on the history of the river activity during the industrial revolution and surrounding area. There is also wildlife to spot along the way including kingfishers, otters, wagtails and swans. The tour lasts for 30 minutes and we recommend an hour in total for the visit. Longer tours are available. There are recommended coach drop off and pick up points on the route.
After our raft tour we visit UNESCO World Heritage Site Ironbridge including Blist Hill Victorian Town, a recreation of a late nineteenth century town. Meet the Victorians in their authentic shops and cottages, see curious goods from a bygone era and watch tradespeople in action in their atmospheric workshops and factories.
Return home.
