Edinburgh is a beautiful city, steeped in history and royal tradition. In winter the city transforms in a carnival of colours, lights and celebrations. On this wonderfully wintry tour we will board The Royal Yacht Britannia, decorated for Christmas, giving us a glimpse into royal life on board in days gone by. We will explore the magical illuminated trail at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, and there will be free time to shop, sight-see and explore.

Day 1
Travel to Edinburgh
Travel to Edinburgh and check into your hotel located in the heart of the city in time for dinner. Depending on your route why not call into beautiful Lowther Castle or the excellent Devils Porridge Museum on the way.
Day 2
The Royal Yacht Britannia
We start the day with a coach tour around the city and surrounding area. We then travel to the port of Leith to visit The Royal Yacht Britannia, which is splendidly decorated for Christmas. An audio tour leads you through the five decks, giving a fascinating insight into the lives of the Royal Family. We return to our hotel for dinner.
Day 3
Christmas at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and free-time
Today there is free time to explore the city. You may choose to visit the famous bustling Christmas markets. Enjoy the unique shopping experience and pick up some gifts from the European and Scottish markets with its fair of crafters, artists, gift shops and gastronomic surprises.
In the late afternoon as dusk falls we travel to the Royal Botanic Garden and walk the spectacular outside illuminated trail which includes thousands of lights and state-of-the-art installations including the iconic Glasshouses drenched in festive colours. We then return to our hotel for a later evening meal.
Day 4
Return home
Today we start our journey home. The Greatdays team can recommend places of interests to visit on your way.
