Stockholm – Pearl of the Baltic
Spread across 14 islands and connected by 57 bridges, Stockholm is one of Europe’s truly stunning and well preserved capital cities. A number of neighbourhoods merge together, whether it be the time capsule that is the Old Town or the modern city centre with all the latest technology. You will find fantastic bars and restaurants to unwind in after a long day sightseeing in the many museums and pretty parks. The city is surrounded by a stunning archipelago and pristine forests.
During your stay, explore the beautiful Gamla Stan, the Old Town, which is one of the largest and best preserved medieval city centres in Europe. Palaces and cathedrals loom over narrow streets of cobblestones.
There are plenty of exciting attractions from the Royal Palace – the official residence of His Majesty the King of Sweden – to the magnificent, ornate Vasa warship. There’s even a delightful ABBA museum. The architecture, art, culture and Now-Nordic gourmet cuisine on offer is truly outstanding. Though it spans several islands, Stockholm is surprisingly compact and easy to navigate. Bridges (both foot and vehicle-traffic) connect most of the islands; ferries and the tunnelbana (metro) link the rest. Therefore, you can explore all the nooks and crannies of this wonderful destination. Perhaps cruise around the archipelago for amazing views of the waterside or venture out to Sigtuna to see rune stones.
