Day 1-2
Travel to Italy
Take a short sea crossing to Calais then drive south through France, stopping overnight. The following day we travel to tMontecatini for the next 6 nights.
Day 3
Montecatini
Spend a day at leisure in Montecatini, exploring the local area or relaxing at the hotel and enjoying its facilities.
Day 4
Florence – Boboli Gardens
We head to Florence for a visit to Boboli Gardens, located in the city’s centre. The park hosts centuries-old oak trees, sculptures and fountains. These gardens even inspired many others in Europe, including Versailles. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore Florence at leisure. The birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Florence in enchanting and simply irresistible.
Day 5
Lucca – Villa Reale and Villa Pfanner
Lucca is the only town in Italy to be surrounded entirely by walls. Nearby, you’ll visit two splendid gardens today, The Parco Villa Reale is a very large garden with numerous water fountains, gardens within gardens and an enormous amount to explore. In the late morning, visit Villa Pfanner with its ornamental blossoms, lemon trees and eightennth century statues. This is a beautiful Baroque garden. Afterwards, enjoy some time in Medieval Lucca, strolling through its cobbled streets.
Day 6
Villa Poggi Torselli and Villa Gamberaia
Today, enjoy the stunning landscape of Chianti and this part of Tuscany, with its mixture of rolling landscaped vineyards and wooded hills. Visit the Villa Poggi Torselli at San Casciano Val di Peso, renowned for its spectacular flowering plants, where you have a guided visit. In the afternoon, depart for an excursion of Villa Gamberaia’s beautiful gardens, just outside of Florence.
Day 7
Parco Villa Reale di Marlia and Villa Torrigiano
In the heart of Tuscany, at the foot of the Pizzorne hills, lies the 17th century Villa Reale di Marlia. The 16-hectare estate boasts numerous refined gardens and botanic rarities, as well as majestic buildings created over centuries. The timeless elegance of the grounds will charm and delight! Camellia lined pathways lead around the gardens to a splendid Water Theatre, the world famous Green Theatre, a Lemon Garden with marble statues depicting Leda and the Swan from Greek mythology, and a Spanish Garden in Art Deco style.
We will then visit the Villa Torrigiano, whose romantic gardens are filled with fountains and grottoes. The villa itself is also open to the public and is decorated with 17th century frescoes.
Day 8-9
Return to UK
It’s time to leave Tuscany and return to the UK stopping overnight in France before heading to Calais for the short sea crossing to Calais.
